December 2012 meeting

The December monthly meeting has been cancelled.  It was voted on last month not to hold a meeting because of the two benefits, Christmas Party and personal events that everyone has to attend to during  the holidays.

Check out below and see ad for the Spaghetti Supper,  Friday January 11 at 5 PM.  Advance tickets $7 and $8 at the door.

National AMVETS Riders are selling pocket calendars for $20.  Money can be won if your number   is drawn in the Ohio State Lottery.  Numbers are picked everyday except Sundays. See Dee if you would like to purchase calendar.

Bike Ride to Baton Rogue

Richard Bump Sr., Richard Bump Jr. and Steve Greene will be riding their motorcycles to Baton Rogue, LA.      The three AMVETS RIDERS member will ride 1,500 miles to attending Richard Sr.(Bumpy)reunion of the USS Albany on Oct.14.  Bumpy is seventy-nine years young and has been planning this ride all summer.

The Post will host a Roast Beef Dinner on Saturday Oct. 6 at 5 pm to benefit the USS Albany Association.
A check will also be given to the Albany Housing Coalition which provides transitional housing to homeless vets.

Sept. 20 2012 Riders Meeting

The next monthly meeting of the AMVETS RIDERS POST 2000 will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 7PM at the Post.  All members are reminded to attend and guest are always welcome to come and check us out.

Many, many thanks to everyone who showed up to ride in our Third Annual Fall Run.  It was very  nice to meet some new riders this year and some guys plan on joining the Post and Riders. Great!!!


I wasn't planning on riding the whole way, but the weather was just fantastic and I can never get enough shifting gears and wind in my face!!!!

Aug. 16 meeting------Aug. 18 Run & Roast Beef Dinner

Aug. 16 regular monthly meeting 7 PM at Post.  . Save the date Sept 9  that will be our 3rd Annual Fall Motorcycle Run.

The AMVETS POST 2000 Fort Plain will host its First Annual  Veterans Benefit Day on Saturday, August 18.  The day’s events start off with a free motorcycle run leaving the Post at 11:00 AM.  The run will stop at various veteran’s post . Fun events for entire family will get under way at 2 PM.  This includes games for children, horseshoes, bake sale, gas card raffle, 50/50 raffles  and a Chinese auction.  The main event will be the Roast Beef Dinner at 5 PM.  Tickets for the dinner will be $10 and only $8 if you bring a dish to pass.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Albany Housing Coalition Inc.,  a transitional residence for male homeless veterans and the Guardian House, Saratoga Springs a female homeless  residence.

June 3rd Run

Many thanks go out to everyone who participated last Sunday in our Third Annual Run.  Every year the weather does not want to cooperate and I am sure the  black clouds scared a few rider away.  I rode only part of the ride myself, but I never did get wet.  Thanks go out to the restaurants and merchants for their many donations.  American Legion Post 701, Sawmill Tavern, Hillview  Tavern, Jim's Irish Harbor, Allan's Auto Bod, Rock City Iron, 5's Diner, Village Diner, Nice& Easy,Lombardo Pizza, Little Falls Carpet, Masi's Body Shop, Dome Liquor,Flint's Liquor, Fucellios Auto,Norm's, Parts Plus, Curtis Lumber, Adirondack Harley Davidson and Spitzies Harley Davidson.

May Meeting 17th at 7:00 PM

Next meeting Thursday, May 17th.  We need to get everything organize for our 3rd Annual Motorcycle Run June 3rd.  The Run will start at the SawMill, Schenectady then proceed to American Legion, Amsterdam, Hillview Esperance, Jim's Irish Harbor, Canajoharie and finally to the Post, Fort Plain for BBQ.

Riders sponsoring Benefit for member "Rudy" "Fluffy"-Rodney Schrell.  The benefit will be held June 9 at 12 noon. Donation $10.  Rudy is a cancer patient that needs some extra help during this time.

April meeting

Thursday April 19 at 7Pm will be the regular monthly meeting. Don't forget the Chili-Cook Off on Saturday April 20th starting at 4 PM.

March Meeting 15th

We've had the winter off and now its time to start planning our 2012 riding season. The weather has been teasing us with a few warm days and I have seen a few bikers out there. I can't wait to see everyone back on their bikes all polished up and in the wind.

This year I would like to see the club expand and recruit more riders. I know there are a lot of bikers out there, we just have to get them excited about joining us. Next, I would like to have a road captain come up with new destinations and weekly rides posted. Lastly, we need to keep doing our annual runs and raise money for various programs.
